The Epic Data Courier Administrator is responsible for the implementation and on-going administrative support of Epic's Data Courier application, including the definition and maintenance of key processes for migration of static data files across environments.  In addition, as a key member of Epic Core Systems, this person coordinates the implementation, maintenance, and support of application configuration files and systems. .  The Epic Data Courier Administrator develops and leads master files projects, functions, and activities among a variety of organizations and systems across our client and affiliate organizations in specific reference to user records, application security, user roles, and centralized master file maintenance within the Epic system.  This person is responsible for the creation and integration of master file development and maintenance methodology including testing, quality assurance, documentation, and user acceptance criteria.  Working closely with leadership in IT and the medical centers, the Epic Data Courier Administrator provides coordination, standardization, and support of the Epic standard master file migrations.  Additional responsibilities include: 

  • Assist in the implementation and initial setup and configuration of Data Courier in both a Non-Production and Production environment.
  • Work with the Data Courier Project Manager to plan and complete Data Courier unit testing.
  • Train all Data Courier Movers on the functionality of Data Courier by leading classes which include hands-on exercises.
  • Perform day-to-day troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution related to Epic Data Courier issues identified by analysts.  Assist with coordination of all Epic migrations issues and work with other application teams as needed.
  • Work with other Epic Core Systems team members supporting, importing, exporting, and troubleshooting other Epic Core master file migrations.
  • Work  IT Services and Operational teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and standardization and develop solutions to streamline existing processes to provide a more efficient standard migration schedule.
  • Ensure monitoring and auditing of Epic Data Courier interfaces.
  • Attend Epic’s Data Courier Administrator classes.
  • Work with other Epic Core Systems team members supporting, importing, exporting, and troubleshooting other Epic Core master files.

  • Manage and perform project tasks, system configuration, and developments tasks.
  • Analyze business processes and procedures and  define and document customer requirements.
  • Proactively monitor and maintain systems and perform problem resolution.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation.
  • Perform rigorous quality assurance testing to ensure high quality products are released.
  • Follow departmental and team standards for configuration control, quality assurance, and version releases.
  • Participate in UW Medicine Quality Improvement activities.
  • Develop and provide training for IT Services staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.  Equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • 2-3+ years of experience in Epic Systems experience and training.
  • 2-3+ years of experience implementing and supporting mission-critical clinical and financial systems.
  • 2-7+ years of experience in Epic User Access and Security Analyst responsibilities related to build and maintenance of User and Security related master files.
  • 2-3+ years of experience in healthcare or related systems.
  • Proficient in the Epic Data Model structures.
  • Experience with imports and exports and the use of ETAN.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the change management process for migrating changes between environments.
  • Developing departmental or organizational informational policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Experience with Epic Chronicles.
  • Experience with risk assessment methodology and risk mitigation.
  • Epic Systems certification.
Condition of Employment:

  • Available to work irregular hours as necessary to support  business requirements.
